Construction & Trades

Know which jobs actually made money

Construction accounting lives or dies on job costing. If labour, materials, and subs aren't allocated to the right job, you find out a project lost money long after you could have done anything about it — and your bonding company wants a WIP schedule you can't produce.

The hard parts

What makes construction & trades books different

These are the places we see go wrong most often — and the first things we fix.

Cost allocation by job

Shared labour, equipment, and materials have to land on the right job or profitability is fiction.

WIP and percentage of completion

Over- and under-billing schedules are demanded by sureties and lenders, and are painful to build retroactively.

Retainage and subcontractor compliance

Retainage receivable and payable sit for months, and subs need accurate 1099s and lien waiver tracking.

Construction & Trades, answered

Yes. We prepare work-in-progress schedules showing costs incurred, estimated cost to complete, percentage complete, and over/under billings in the format sureties and lenders expect.

We prepare the underlying payroll data and job allocation. Certified payroll report filing for prevailing-wage jobs is coordinated with your payroll provider or CPA.

Subcontractors are set up as 1099-eligible vendors from onboarding with W-9s collected upfront, so year-end reporting is a report run rather than a scramble. See our note on the new $2,000 threshold.
